The Importance of Lungs and Large Intestine
November 04, 2017
Who would have thought these organs are a vital key to healthy living, especially at this time of year? According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the fall of the year resonates with the emotion grief and the organs affected are lungs (yin) and large intestine (yang).
The lungs are associated with clear thinking and communication, openness to new ideas, positive self-image, and the ability to relax, let go and be happy. When you are dealing with excessive grief, you will have difficulty coping with loss and change, a sense of alienation, and experience a prolonged sense of sadness. Attachment is also associated with the lung. If you have a difficult time letting go of relationships, objects, experiences or spend much of your time reliving the past, this can be a deficiency of the lungs. Weakness in the energy of the lungs may cause an overwhelming, constant state of grief that does not ease and may lead to depression and other issues.
Our Lungs are responsible for taking in the new and large intestine is responsible for letting go of the waste. It is the last stage in digestion, and rids the body of everything it doesn’t need. Breathing in fresh, crisp fall air is something that can help your lungs, make sure you wear a scarf around your neck to keep you warm and enjoy peaceful walks looking at the fall color and listening to nature. Yoga can help you to learn to notice your emotions and learn to let go.
